The Rhode Island Student Climate Coalition (RISCC) was kicked off at the first Powershift Conference in Washington, DC — back in 2007 — after students from Brown University and the University of Rhode Island decided to collaborate to pursue a clean energy future. RISCC has been involved in the passage of Rhode Island’s key greenhouse gas emissions reductions bill, the Resilient Rhode Island Act of 2014. We’ve also led some of Rhode Island’s largest climate rallies, like 2017’s People’s Climate Mobilization. We regularly speak out on state climate justice issues, like #NoLNGinPVD and #NoNewPowerPlant. We continue to advocate for strong climate policy, like the Energize RI Act of 2017. RISCC and our partners are at the forefront of current climate issues in Rhode Island.
